Rowan's Law
Hello families of players and team officials,

On July 1st, 2019 Rowan’s Law took effect in Ontario. Rowan Stringer was an Ontario Rugby player who passed away from complications due to multiple head injuries.  In her memory,  Rowan’s Law aims to increase education and awareness for parents, coaches, athletes, and teachers about concussions.  It also requires that concussion policies are in place at all school boards and sports associations across Ontario.

Due to this requirement and the TAAA’s concern about the long-term health outcomes of our players, parents/guardians and team officials will be required to do the following before their child plays hockey this year.

· Review the resource most appropriate for their player:
Concussion Awareness for players 10 years of age and under
Concussion Awareness for players 11-14 years of age
Concussion Awareness for players 15 years of age and older

· Print and sign the Rowan’s Law acknowledgement form and submit to the TAAA office mailbox or a TAAA member before their child takes the ice this September.  Please note that your child CAN NOT be rostered to play anywhere in Ontario without the acknowledgement form on record.

· Rowan’s Law acknowledgement forms will be available at our in person registrations on July 27 & 31, 2019.

Please remember that your child’s health and safety is our priority,
Sincerely the TAAA executive
