In the early 1960’s a young athlete from Thorold made people sit up and take notice. Mike
Eggeroff was an all-around sportsman, hockey and baseball were his passions. He was an
original member of the 1963 Thorold Jr B team and he later played and coached on the Thorold
Intermediate A team. After junior hockey he played in the NCAA. Eggie was taken from us in
1973- far too soon. Immediately the TAAA honoured his memory by establishing the Mike
Eggeroff Memorial Trophy to be given each year to a junior athlete of the year.
