JAMES WHYTE MEMORIAL TROPHY SENIOR ATHLETE
OVERVIEW:
Established in 1939 This Award is presented to a Senior Thorold Athlete who amplifies the
sportsmanship and character of James Whyte. James Whyte was a founding member of the
TAAA and he worked for the St. Catharines Standard. He died suddenly in 1939 and the
Standard donated this trophy in his memory.
CRITERIA:
Play/Played hockey in Thorold Minor Hockey Association at some time
Participates in Multiple sports on and off the ice
Exemplifies the principles of a positive attitude
Promotes teamwork , sportsmanship
Shows respect for officials, coaches, fans and other players
Encourages teammates to demonstrate positive behaviour
Respected by teammates and coaches through their career
Is seen as a positive influence
Displays a strong work ethic
Volunteer in Community / School
Possesses skills and ability in sports
Their approach and attitude is a tribute to how they exemplify the principals of this award
This person shall have proven achievement of a higher level of hockey , beyond Minor Hockey
Train Hard, Work Hard towards all aspects of higher Hockey Levels
*Are 16 January 1st or older, has been a member of the TAAA at some
point during their career.
