WHAT IS THE TAAA SELECT PROGRAM?
The Select program is offered in conjunction with our local league program and is a bridge between recreational hockey (local league) and Rep hockey programs B. This allows all house league players to try out for Select in their particular age group.
TAAA proposes to offer Select teams in the following age groups: U11, U13, U15, U18.
In addition to playing on your child's local league team, and should they be chosen for the Select team, they will also participate in additional games , practices and tournaments as per the Select team agenda. The Select team is eligible to compete in 3 tournaments during the season. Select players are to be divided equally amongst their Local League teams and there is no body checking allowed in Select hockey.
If your child loves Local League and is ready for more ice time and more competition –
Select hockey is for them.
Cost
There is an additional cost for joining a Select team, although the cost is not as great as it is for a Representative team, parents should be prepared to pay the additional costs. This fee is paid in addition to the TAAA registration fee. Select fee amounts fluctuate depending on team fundraising efforts, sponsorships, etc. This fee will help cover your extra games, practice ice and tournaments.
*Important Information About Select
Please note, that while our objective is to supply the above house league age groups with the opportunity to engage in additional on-ice competition through the Select program, this availability is subject to having enough players to safely create and facilitate those teams. The decision to move forward with Select teams will be at the discretion of the Select Director , House League Director and members of the TAAA board.
